“It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
We have had SUCH a fun time visiting with our friends.
We have had LONG talks, played games, sat by fires, stayed up late, gotten up early…it’s been glorious.
Since moving to a new town, we are only just starting to settle into our friendships here, but getting to be around old friends felt like watching your favorite movie. Or sleeping in your old room. Or maybe folding yourself into your favorite sweater.
Just comfortable and easy.
After staying up past 4 a.m., the husbands were finally emerging from their rooms the next morning and, in defense of their decision to stay up ’til morning, our friend said, “It has been so long, being able to just hang-out and talk. . .you don’t even realize how much you missed someone until you’re around them again.”
After a few days of staying out late we have been crashing pretty hard.
And, apparently so have our babies.
They’ve been on the opposite end of the spectrum, instead of rekindling an old friendship they are budding a brand new one. Sweet, innocent and exhausting.
Although, technically they have met before. . .
Today I also get to visit with my friend from high school that I haven’t seen in years. I’m so excited.
I just feel so grateful, these visits are exactly what I’ve been needing.
And I plan to soak up every moment with these dear people, I don’t care how hard I crash out later.
Sleeping always feels better after a day filled with friends.
