Strong

Last night I demanded the truth.  I’d been spoon fed a watered down, glossed over version and I decided that it wasn’t enough.

I demanded it all.

In the final moments before the man behind the curtain was revealed I was asked this question, “Are you sure, cause this might hurt.”

And from somewhere deep within my soul I spoke out my own truth:

“Oh see…you forget just how strong I am.”

You forget that I survived the tragic loss of my father when I was just a baby.

You forget that I survived the death of my mother when I was barely out of my teens.

You forget that I have rose again continuously, after multiple members of my extended family shunned me for not sharing their particular beliefs.

“Oh see…you forget just how strong I am.”

You forget that I spoke at four funerals in less then a year when I was only 22.

You forget that I survived 18 months of sever hyperemesis during pregnancy, 9 of which while I was raising a toddler.

You forget that when I was 19 I moved to a foreign country where I didn’t speak the language.

You forget that I’ve stood with the minority belief among my family and friends my whole life.

GET BEHIND ME SATAN!

OH SEE…YOU FORGET JUST HOW STRONG I AM.”

Make no mistake.

I can do hard things.

That’s never been in doubt.

I know that through Christ, all things are possible, and together…

We can find beauty in all this ugly.  We can find light in this crushing darkness.  We can rise up out of these ashes.  And with his help, I can forgive even this.

Oh see…

You forget just how strong I Am.
